IN THIS EPISODE:
Margaret and Amos continue their examination of Martin Brewbaker, and find something that should not be -- how can a dead man still be growing? The infection is starting to make an impact on Perry's concentration, his tolerance ... and his ability to control that nasty violent streak of his.

FIRST TWO WEEK'S SALES:
INFECTED sold over 5,000 copies in the first two weeks starting April 1. And that's hardcover, yo! Thanks to all the Junkies who represented, and thanks to you new suckers as well -- I'm after your hard-earned money. If the book doesn't sell well enough, I'm busting out the blackmail pics of that kegger you were at back in the day. Yeah, that kegger, the one with the Bulgarian juggler. Don't tempt my wrath ...

Infected

I've never ventured into this area of the internet. However, and Im glad, I found this book at the library in my very conservative, ufortunately republican city. Great fun reading it............and it is readable folks. Just don't take things so gosh darn serious.......sometimes it's good fun to let the imagination wander down unknown paths..............

Finally

After 18 days my copy of Infected has finally made it down to little old New Zealand. It'll look great nest to my copy of Earthcore.

Thanks again Scott, am LOVING Nocturnal you sick f*cker. You gotta do a book for that too. You keep em coming and I'll keep buying.

Hold on...

Wait a minute...  Hutchinsssssss is finally allowed to read "the story so far," claiming it's because he's purchased FIVE copies of the book.  My wife and I are up to SIX copies and haven't been asked to read "the story so far."  (Yup, we're giving them away, knowing that the uninformed will have to come back once they've had their first dose...)  You haven't even worked my sorry self into the story just to kill me off yet!  It's a mad mad mad world.  I'm starting to think you actually have a man-crush on HUTCHINSSSSS.  That's fine though; even the FDO needs a concubine.

Seriously--congrats on the book sales Sig!

Congratulations!

I have no idea what 5000 copies represent in BigTimeNumbers, but I think it's an awesome achievement!

Congratulations on the print debut !

Well done on the sales! When

Well done on the sales! When will the next chapter be available on Podiobooks also? Keep up the good work.

5000? Tip of the iceberg, mate....

Just so we're clear about this, I know nothing about selling books. But I do know a great book when I read it. My lovely, hard-back 'Infected' is going away in a safe place so that WHEN it becomes a huge hit, is reprinted 100 times and Scott ascends, I can wave it in people's faces and say "Ha! - look at mine - one of the first 5000 printed!"

Hmmm

Astral Guardian's picture

Only one small problem with that strategy. It is 5k books "sold" not "printed". Crown printed more than that.

Can't find Directors Cut.

Can you please provide a link to the Directors Cut. I went straight to buy it but couldn't find it. Any kind of link Itunes, Amazon etc.

5K of books in 2 weeks... it

themindfantastic's picture
5K of books in 2 weeks... it might not be on NYT Bestsellers list (it should be though) so who do we stake out and threaten in person our Future Dark Overlord? (Well your not FDO to me, your MDO to me M for My, because its not 'future' for me).

Awesome!

I don't follow book publishing, just the reading part. So, I guess my first question would be: what is considered average for a major hardcover release? How many copies do Dean Koontz or Tom Clancy average in their first two weeks? I don't mean to minimize this feat by any means. 5000 books is still a ton, particularly for an author who is mostly unknown to the publishing world at large. Well, hear's hoping to another 5000 and off to world domination!

Koontz and Clancy are on another level

Those guys do 5,000 copies when their book is still months away. It's an entirely different level. You could say there's people that sell under 5k, people that sell between 5k and 30k, and the the 30k and over crowd. The latter is where you want to get to be on the lower levels of "big time." A book is considered a major hit if it moves 100,000 copies.

let's make it a major hit. Keep Buying everyone. Let's get the FDO™ invited into the lower levels of "big time." Or better yet the upper levels of "big time."

Nicely played, Scott

Excellent use of The Humpty Dance to explain. That sums it up nicely.

That's pretty sweet indeed.

Damn Dirty Junkie's picture

That's pretty sweet indeed. Is over 5000 the number that was sold in the States, or is that worldwide Infection numbers? How many is "over 5000" anyway? Are we talking 5001, 5307, 432 thousand? C'mon. Don't hold out on us Junkies, dammit!

To quote Digital Underground ...

scottsigler's picture
In their seminal song "The Humpty Dance," Humpty Hump of Digital Underground describes his nose as "big like a pickle." He doesn't give the specific size, but you get the clear understanding that his nose is large. My tally of books sold is like that. It's big like a pickle, but I won't get into the actual millimeters involved ...

5000? Quit the dayjob?

So does 5000k mean you could live solely on your writing income yet?

5000!
