NOCTURNAL Episode #26

And while we're all being creative, I'm up for seeing some Rocktopi take up home in Marie's Children's subterranean hive.  Why not?  Both stories have Jebidiahs in them (even though they're spelled differently).  So why not some Rocktopi too?

 I'd love to see that fight--Rocktopi vs. Nocturnals.  Carnage:  sweeeeeeet carnage.  (OK, I admit it.  This'll never work.)

I know I'm not alone when I say that I'm impressed by your offer to let your junkies provide our input on what we think about Nocturnal and how we might want it to end.  The depth of thought in some of the comments on this very page show that we're taking your offer seriously.  (Maybe too seriously...but then junkies are typically obsessive SOBs about their drugs of choice, so what the hell.)

As I said in an email to you some time ago, I think you've created a remarkable set of characters for this book.  I hoped you weren't planning to kill them all off,  This is a city and a cast with more stories to tell and your junkies want to hear them.

In particular, Marie's Children --powerful, scary, nightmarish, stealthy monsters-- are too full of potential to be completely destroyed the way the monsters of Earthcore and Ancestor were.

And I really like the Ninja.  He's another version of the Savior, a good guy with nocturnal-grade superhuman abulities.  ("Superhuman" in this case meaning "more than human.")  Once he understands and acknowledges his special abilities, he will be ten times the badass he is right now.

Food for thought:

Since you made the Children part of a hive-like society, perhaps you can take it to a "logical" conclusion.  When a bee hive's queen is dying or dead, the workers have the means to convert a "baby" worker into a new queen.  Marie is far too large to escape if the nest is attacked, so she may well be toast before the book is through.  But if a fair number of her Children can get away, they can reconstitute their hive over time with a new queen, a "new Marie."

It'e enough in most monster movies and books for the heroes to survive and get away.  That's considered a Win by the audience.  Good enough.  And there's always the thought in our minds of what might happen if the monster comes back.  (Maybe it won't.  Maybe it's gone forever.  But what if it's not?)

You may not want to write a sequel any time soon, but these guys have sequel written all over them.  Don't burn that bridge.  Godzilla almost always gets out alive.  So does Dracula (even staked and dusted, we consider him defeated, not destroyed)

The Terminator will be back.  The Alien facehuggers will be back. Darth Vader survuved the Death Star's destruction. 

That's not a bad thing in a science fiction or horror story.

i know i know, this is my old song and dance on this. bry and rex are brothers (half at least) so they both had/have the potential to be the "King" and that is if the made up prophecy has any truth to it. bry is has chosen his path, that of light and right (even though he is the "ninja"). rex has chosen his path, that of darkness and might, poor pookie is caught in the middle and no telling what is gonna happen to robin. ericson is toast or soon will be (i wonder of he is a nocturnal). and the russian and the italian mobsters....oh well, it's gonna be burn baby burn. the subchief and the chief are on their way out...
And oh, yeah, scott, what happened to killing junkies? I, and a few others, were mentioned in episode 13, i think it was 13, and here we are WAITING for episode 27, and we still be not killed. what's with that?? just wondering.... and waiting for the knife, bullet, claw, teeth, whatever in the back ...

Rex as Scarface, and renaming the group are great touches. Those are exactly things that a kid would want to do first thing....

That's one missed episode, but since you used the time to finish up how the rest of the book would work, I would be willing to discount that miss.
