Not very often that I find time to post to a forum these days but after the last episode, I just can't resist.

Q: How long does it take to podcast a Sigler episode?

A: At least a fucking day

How do I know, because I've done it. We are releasing the German version of Earthcore in Sigler style (free of charge, approx. weekly, mp3/podcast). We're using a professional actor (who is also a fan and donating his time). We've got a professional studio. The content is written and translated in advance. It still takes about a full day to put together an Episode of Earthcore for "die deutschen Junkies".

Now we've all got day jobs so occasionally an episode is late (kids have to eat and, more importantly, something has to pay for the recording gear). But with family and pets in a bad way (and a long long way away) you just perform miracles and prioritise...

Don't think that you can just take the laptop along and record bedside. You need professional kit and a dedicated room. Scott must be investing many tens of thousands to provide free content. A decent mike doesn't come for less than a grand and that's without the pre-amp. Oh yeah, that nobbly foam on the studio walls. Probably costs more for a square foot than bay area real-estate.

So give this guy a break won't you. If you're short of content buy a studio, write a book and start recording. When you've got the episode online, call me and bitch. While you're at it, don't forget to get a copy of the book and donate a dollar to medical research in Scott's name so that Scott can recover some of the many many dollars he invested to get you reading this post.

Loved this last episode although it is bitter sweet because it means we are that much closer to the end. I am glad that you ranted Scott. People can be so stupid and self absorbed that they just complain about anything that doesn't come exactly the way they want it. 

I admit I don't read all the forums and I know I don't nearly post as much as a lot of the others do but once I saw the time span between the chapters I knew something must have come up. Keep up the great work you do and tomorrow I am buying another copy of infected along with PFK.

Great to listen to anther episode. Sorry to hear about the tough times you've been having. You have your priorities right: family comes first, freeloaders last! Impatient junkies just have to learn to manage their addiction: it doesn't pay to antagonise your dealer!

I think most of us got it the first time around, and even though we are damn dirty junkies, we are also human beings, and for the most part able to tell the difference between a preening, prima donna and someone just having the courtesy to tell us (not family members but listeners, fans, junkies, take your pick) what is going on and why there will be a delay.

There is a big difference between a junkie and a douche bag, and when you get right down to it, you don't own Ben or any of us jack shit.
On that note, back to work  .

Fuck Ben, it's too bad people hide behind their anonymity on the web because there's no way he would mess with you if he knew you knew where he lived...but anyways, he did it for attention, he got it, and I'm glad you're going to keep it off the feeds from now on, you don't need to spend time on those crack heads. The only critics you need are the one's you truly appreciate what you do.

Keep up the great work, hope you're able to relax for a few weeks before your publisher wants to keep capitalizing on your success and you're forced to write another book in only 4 months this time!

I just got off the bus, was listening to episode 31, and eventhough I think its fuckin awesome that you had Mur Lafferty in the bathroom and totally dug the espisode, i have to admit that i am goddam outraged with that asshole BEN. This fucker sure doesn't appreciate what he has. Look men, i live in Belize, that is small central american country that does not have many places where i can get the content that people like us like. I mean all he has to do is walk to the corner to get his fix. I have a collection of Stephen King books but had to almost sell my soul to get them. It feels great to get all this podcasts (with all its senseless violence) for free. My greatest dream now is to get some hard cover sigler books, but i keep the hope that it will reach here sometime. lets rally the troops and find this BEN asshole and make him the first physical body bag in The Sigler Ascension

Great new episode, all I have to say about the rants is that I really don't mind the rants... That's actually what made me come over and give you a listen hearing your intro rant at Murder at Avedon Hill.

I was like who the fuck is this guy.... I came over gave a listen and stuck around.

Some people don't realize what a greedy parasitee they are and need a kick in the fucking head toset them right.

Me I realize I'm a parasite.... but I'm not a greedy one.... 

I even got my ma hooked on you bro... you were her first Podcast... let alone podiobook, and since a podiobook is technically an audio book your her first of those too.... now I have to keep coming over and updating her itunes for her so she can get her fix....

My father in law just passed away in April after a long hospital(s) and rehab facity stay(s).  I hope your father in law pulls out of it and his rehab stay is a good and short one.  So I kind of know what you are going through. 

On a lighter side I got his hat.  He was a shriner.  My advice to is that if you get in this situation don't bring your wife to the local go-cart track with you.

...and I have three things to say:

1) Most importantly, Fuck Ben (with a capital 'F')

2) Awesome episode, as usual!

3) You are made of awesome for taking so much time to explain what was clearly a very difficult time for you as a person. It's unfortunate that the most vocal people tend to be the miserable bungholes of the world. It's unlike most consumers to write a letter or contact the maker of a product to fervently praise a product.

Not that you need it, FDO, but I would encourage you to peruse all the old Fan art on Flickr, the Fan Fiction threads here on the forum, the Siglerpedia wiki, Tee's Rookie Jersey saga and all the hysterical past call line abusers and feel the virtual love that some of the most dedicated Junkies have offered. Your work has inspired people, entertained people and kept people company while driving / working / studying and hopefully it's that thought that remains with you as an author longer than any detractor's flippant comments.

Hope things are improving with the family.  What an ignorant, entitled douchebag who wrote that original rant!!!  I took the time off getting ready for the upcoming football season listening to The Rookie!  Great novel, I loved the advertisement for "Roctopi Red!" 

Keep up the great work, I listen for free and buy the novels for my shelf and for friends.  Now that he's gone, I'll be sure to buy more...

Hey Scott, don't let people like that forum poster guy get you down. Being a former podcaster, and current YouTube-ian video maker, I've learned to expect some douche baggary from time to time.  That guy is probably just a wanna-be writer who is jealous of your success, or some punk kid trying to get a rise out of you. Just focus on your family, and we can wait for your content.

I must say I'm a little disapointed though. You should have made some sexual references about that guy's mom, or how he was molested as a child, or something along those lines. Where is the Dark Overlord we have come to love?

I kind of wish your forum has a search function so I could respond to the supposed junkie that spouted all that crap. Really, what a douche. It's his loss if he doesn't want to buy your stuff. I listen and read a lot of stuff for free online, and I've found that 99% of the time when it transitions to print its leveled up and become better. I know INFECTED rocked and I look forward to CONTAGIOUS and the final book in the series. The print edition was that good.

Sorry there's people like that poster. Kind of makes me affraid to pursue my own novel publicly next year.
