Underline/Italic aren't working

I posted a comment recommending book titles, and underlined them. That didn't show up, so I went back and italicized them. That didn't show up. So I went back and bolded them. That worked. Comment URL is:

regarding the "crack-hits-hunters" - I think we should introduce some rules here. Replies to threads only for crack hits will lead to a -100 Crack-Hits penalty. How about that? Could someone start a new thread about this issue?

Sounds good to me. I'll start a thread in the website announcements.
The big problem I foresee is judging when someone is doing so. I got scolded for being too serious and not being relaxed enough. I anticipate there will be some objections along the lines of
"All I'm trying to do is relax and have fun. I don't want to worry about what I post getting me a penalty."
Then you have the issue of judging when someone is doing it. Yadda yadda. I'll mention this in the initial post and see what folks think. I know many of the regulars enjoy being silly and I can't really blame them. I haven't seen anyone get excessive with it, yet.
