CONTAGIOUS Episode #1

Outstanding start! December 30th can't get here soon enough!

(apologies that I drift back and forth between addressing the FDO directly and talking about him in the third person.  He can fix that when the tanks roll out)

Ok, so I've only heard one episode and I'm *already* hooked.

The thing is--I *want* to say, "damn you, Slgler" or something but I can't.  The reason I can't is:  you've gotten *too* good for that sort of thing.

Please let me be clear.  When you wrote Ancestor and Infection/Infected and The Rookie and the others, you were a /good/ author.  You were a good author that was able to get somewhere because you realized that being good, by itself, didn't mean jack squat.  Self-promotion, while tacky to some, is what makes things happen.

But somewhere between when you originally wrote Infection and now, it seems that you've matured as an author from /good/ to friggin' AWESOME.  I can see why Hutchins had such accolades for your story, Contagion (even though you dissed him right there in the prologue ;-) ).

So let me sum this up:  what we have here with Mr. Sigler is a guy who started out as a /good/ author with tremendous drive and skill at self-promotion.  What we *now* have is an /excellent/ author who's even better at self promotion and who now has a big name book publisher backing him up.

The tanks are gonna roll, Mr. FDO.  The tanks are gonna roll *any* *friggin* *day* now.

Great work, Scott! Can't wait for the next episode. I love Hutchins as the former pres. Great Idea, hope it plays into the story more

 Ok. Ok. We have our current fix. We know a big fix is coming 12/30/08. My concern is where is the fix after that coming from. I consume MASS quantities quickly, so I need to know that Pandemic is already "in the can" ,so to speak, and will be out .....February 2009!.?

Stop belly aching and get the stories done. You want to be FDO, fine. I'll Pray To The Junkie Maker..(Fishbone...should be the theme music), but you need to deliver the goods. No, I don't care if you don't sleep. That's your business. Wipe your tears with the big pile of money you'll be making.

1. Perry's lighter voice. Not light enough that it feels silly, but if you've heard your voice for him in Infected and know...*ahem* *crosses legs*...what happened to him, you gotta laugh.

2. On the new President...you must also have the power to see the future, He sounds like a dead-ringer for our current Pres-Elect.

This episode proves there is a heaven, and this episode is the song they must sing.

I'll be buying 2 copies of contagious one for My Hubby (oj nightlynx) for our 16th wedding anniversary Dec 31 and 1 for my daughter (not a junkie yet) for her 16th birthday on jan 20th well im off to show my daughter that the first eppi is here :)

Damn it... withdrawls already... this isn't fair.  I can't preorder the book because I want it signed so have to have MuchAdo buy one for me.....plus the damn thing isn't coming out on Dec. 30th here in the UK, no it's coming out AUG 20th 2009!  WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And just wondering...Did I inspire the cover?

So of course the story is awesome. 

But I was very impressed with the extremely skillful and efficient exposition.  Everything you need for the setup is there in those first chapters, and none of it is obvious "First this happened, then this happened, and this guy will be important, and here is why" stuff you get with all those lesser authors.  My favourite thing about being a junkie is watching the quality of the writing (not the stories, those are uniformly superb) get better and better, moving from strength to strength.  Is Scott's writing subject to some kind of Moore's Law of doubling quality? I think so. [I think, therefore I'm right. -Hugo Rune]

The only other genius  I have met so far sadly did not qualify as a human person (he was a complete jerk) so he couldn't be called a genius person (if such a phrase even makes sense in english at all, just a word-by-word translation).

Not sure about You yet.  Probably it will only get clear when enough liquor is consumed together. As I don't have plans in the near future to travel to the US (where the experiment called 'mankind' has began to fail), I might never know.

But geniuses tend be more screwed in the head than normal people (who are quite nuts by default).

Oh, and did you know that due to the present economic crisis the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off until further notice to save the electricity?

DAMN!!! Anyone got a kleenex?
