THE CRYPT: Major Anne Lafferty
![]() | THE CRYPT: Anne Lafferty - Click & Listen THE CRYPT is back, Junkies. For the whole month of May, we're meeting the last round of new arrivals on the P.U.V. James Keeling before it leaves drydock. There will be character sketches co-written with some of the most interesting podcast authors out there, including "new guard" podcasters P.C. Haring, Paul Elard Cooley, Jake Bible joining the "old guard" podcasters Patrick McLean and today's collaborator: Mur Lafferty. I'm a big fan of Mur's. What's not to love? The novels Heaven, Playing for Keeps, and of course her Parsec Award-winning 'cast I Should Be Writing. Podcasting since 2004, Mur's bio is frickin' impressive: click here to check it out. And hey, Lafferty fans, want to hear the rest of THE CRYPT from the beginning? Just click here for over nine hours of free scifi/horror audio right up your alley. Mentioned in this 'cast: |

Whoa!
Is this the scariest episode of The Crypt ever?
I think so, leave it to Lafferty
And you people call me a "sick fuck?" Between Lafferty and Nathan Lowell, I look like an angel.
Anne is one twisted psycho
I totally want to be friends with her.
From a great distance.
Like hearing stories about her from what would be her distant past kind of friends.
Not real life friends. I actually like being alive.
Yeah, me? Not so much with the friends with Lafferty ...
She's good at making friends. I just don't want to be one of them. She can make friends with Hutchinssss, that would work.
Anne's my kinda girl!
I prefer ceramic to plastic blades though.
Speaking of ceramic blades
the story describes her ceramic knife as being "flexible", which, trust me on this as I know from experience, ceramic blades are not flexible. Ceramics are basically man-made stone, which is why they can take such a wickedly sharp edge and hold that edge for a long time, but flexible they are not.
**Conjunction Junction, what's your function? No seriously, I slept through grammar class, so I have no idea what you do.**
Your primitive technology amuses me ...
This is 500 years in the future, adapting something people are already implementing today:

I stand by Mur's story.
Welcome to the siglerverse...

The therapist
I really enjoyed the fact that she broke the hands of the therapist for calling her a sociopath. "You think I have violent tendencies? I'll beat the shit out of you for saying that!"
that feeling
Great partnership! Excelent story with complex characters and feelings. Absolutly nails the feeling of when you sort of come back to yourself after the crazy wears off. "what a mess" Great line HA HA HA HA HA! Well, here come my "friends" with my meds.
Wow, i never realized
that Mur could be so deliciously twisted. I'm betting that Maj. Lafferty is going to have a little "personal time" with Lt. Colin Walker.

Next to Crites...
This could be my favorite character sketch yet. Crazy Black-ops woman who won't die and does anything toa ccomplish the mission? Pretty cool there! (Ok So I'm overlooking the torture and sadism...but you gotta crack a few eggs...right?)
Thankfully I have never...
dated a girl like that. But is does remind me of a friends ex-fiancae*ms*
The Irishman from Ohio
Just finished listening to it...
... and I have to say that I liked it. She (Anne, not Mur!) is one messed up woman... but there is a little something-something about her that is very interesting indeed. But I would definitely NOT want to be her friend... nor her "special friend". <SHIVER>

I am extremely excited about this!
I absoutly love Mur's work and gobble up anything she puts out; so to have both of you team up again it really blows my mind!
Truth be told I wish you guys would do more work together but I know there are so many hours in a day...but I feel you guys should look into this drug called caffine!
Very nice story, I really like how effective Anne was and seems like she will be a very interesting character. I know how you love to kill off your people but I have a strange sense that she will possibly make it...
Keep up the good work Scott you know we love you for it, can't wait to hear more of the Crypt!!!!!!!11!!!!!11!1!!!!!!1

Does someone go into the park and, uh... lift up the dinosaurs' skirts?
Very nice!
Man, that's one socio/psycho chica. I have to remind myself that these characters are written by the guest author, and not based on them. Otherwise, I'd be giving Mur a wide berth when I finally met her.
And not sure anyone cares, but the junkie with the name
573ph4n13_84rn35 appears to be leet speek for
Stephanie Barnes.
Can't wait for more crypt!

We all dated that girl
Crazy knows no bounds.
Hey, I WAS that girl >:)
Kinda still am, but I can't say any more about that because I'm not sure if the statute of limitations has expired yet for the last "incident." He swore he wouldn't say anything if I just let him go though.
