How about a press release - something for traditional media?
Hey Scott! One of my favorite parts about introducing your books to new people is telling your story - about how you were on the edge of having Earthcore published by Time Warner, then having your dream shot down by a corporate decision that had nothing to do with either your talent or the quality of the book. Then of course the best part, how were inspired by old radio to serialize Earthcore into podcasts to prove its worth, which led to you becoming a full-time writer.
This is really one of those "American Dream" or David and Goliath type stories that people like to hear - about how you became a success by going outside the establishment. And I know it has been told in major newspapers and other traditional media, and also that the details can be found on this site and in the Wikipedia page dedicated to you. I had considered putting together something based on that information and sending it to a few local papers. But I thought - why not make it easy for any junkie to cut and paste (or print) and zip off a copy of a press release to their local paper. If you could get something through Crown that could also be referenced with one or several links and/or other contact information for story verification, that would even be better. Heck, maybe something like this already exists and just needs to be posted here.
I know it is short notice for a busy season, but if this could be set up so that we could barrage our local print media by early next week it would add interest and hopefully drive a few extra book sales. And one advantage that doing this through junkies would have over using traditional channels for press releases is that we can find all those little independent/free/special interest/"free press"/shopping ad/small town weekly/etc publications that might have an interest or would just publish it for more filler, and wouldn't necessarily pick it up from a national source.
Just a thought...sorry I didn't think of it sooner. See you in Minneapolis!
