Krakens shirt on Things I Learned This Week

Things I Learned This Week is one of my favorite vidcasts, hosted by the snarky Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff. Nemcoff is also a ROOKIE fan, so I hooked him up with a "PROPERTY OF KRAKENS" T-shirt. Snazzy!

Tailgate Tour cities (and T-shirts!)

Junkies, the time has come to close out the ROOKIE Tailgate Tour. This time out, we've moved to Facebook for event info and tracking:

Please make sure you go r.s.v.p. if you're coming out!

And, in reponse to the many requests, we're putting the ROOKIE Tailgate Tour "Property of Krakens" tees on-sale here on the site. These are updated to include the new tour dates, but otherwise the same as the tees we sold at the earlier tour stops. (Read also: they are suh-weet!) Please click the link below to snag your very own.

December 20th, 2009 update:  If you want a Tailgate Tour tee, don't delay.  We've got fewer than 90 remaining, and won't be doing another print run once they're gone!

KRAKENS T-shirt for ROOKIE Tailgate TourCheck out the silk screen for the "Property of KRAKENS Football" T-shirts that will only be available on tour. No, jackass, the shirts are not pink -- that's just the color of the silk screen. That logo will be in black on the front of a gray T-shirt, with the list of cities on the back. Just $15 to get all that Tailgate tour glory.

ROOKIE Re-cast: Beginning on September 6, 2009, I will be re-broadcasting the original podcast of THE ROOKIE. One episode a day to keep football-ish content in your feed while I'm on the Tailgate Tour. Each episode talks about the football tradition in one city, the city I will be in that day for the tour. So live the Tier One dream again, and learn about some glorious American football traditions.

Still working away at the Warehouse of Doom™, getting all these pretty orange jewels ready to send out to you Junkies.

We're a little bit behind schedule, but catching up today.  However, wanted to let you know there'd be no new story content in the feed today, thought I'd do it with a little video.

One more item of note:  since lots of folks have been email and Tweeting me about the ROOKIE Tailgate Tour, saying they're coming but unable to reply at Eventful, we've decided we're going to do all the stops as published!   This means you'd better get your hustle on and come on out and see me when I come through your town.  Wondering what towns I'll be in and when I'll be there?  Check it out here.

FDO™ launches Dark Overlord Media

in

Junkies, today is a big day in Siglerism. As reported in the Global Print Monitor, I have launched the future platform of world destruction. Say hello to my little friend: Dark Overlord Media! I have partnered with Audacity Events, a San Diego company run by Junkie AlphaGirl, to establish my own small press imprint.

Dark Overlord Media Launches, Publishing Books By Established Online Personalities

San Francisco, CA (August 19, 2009) – New York Times best-selling author Scott Sigler today announced the formation of Dark verlord Media, a publishing house created to produce books and other properties for established online personalities.

“Entertainers are using the internet to establish their own audiences,” Sigler said. “You no longer need a big publisher or a network marketing machine generate a fan base. Dark ∅verlord Media wants to help those entertainers and journalists create tangible products that will make their audiences happy, then facilitate selling directly to those audiences.”

Thanks, RDQ™! Junkie Mae to focus on fan cast.

Scott Scott & Mae: The Breakalls (#16 and #.5) will be focusing on Junkie Mae's Chop Shop, a podcast of Sigler fan fictionScott Scott & Mae: The Breakalls (#16 and #.5) will be focusing on Junkie Mae's Chop Shop, a podcast of Sigler fan fictionClick & Listen: THANK YOU, MAE!

A big change in Siglerism: Long-time Junkie Mae Breakall, the host of the Sigler fan-fiction podcast "Junkie Mae's Chop Shop," has been the personal assistant to the FDO™ for a couple of years now. She's movin' on, and movin' on up, and will no longer do that gig.

Why? As her podcast has developed (nine episodes!), it seemed clear that Mae and her husband Scott (who produces Junkie Mae's Chop Shop) were doing something very cool in helping fans get their Siglerverse stories to a large audience. I wanted to make sure they had full creative control to do whaterver the hell they wanted with the podcast -- no looming shadow of the FDO™ that might affect choices of story or tone.

I also realized there needed to be a clear deliniation between what I do and these fan-generated stories, lest some future miscreant think I'm lawsuit material. Therefore, Junkie Mae, the RDQ™, #.5 for the Krakens is a personal assistant no more -- she's the hostess with the mostest!

Thanks for all the help Mae & Scott. You guys rock, I'm a fan of your show and can't wait to listen to more.

Sneak Peek: ROOKIE hardcover spine

ROOKIE caseROOKIE caseBibliotech broke the news (see the post below this one), but now the story is out. The FDO™ received samples of the "case" for the book, which is the actual hardcover that goes under the dust jacket. For you slow kids, take off the dust jacket on any hardcover, and what's below… that's the case.

As you can see, we have sexy Krakens orange printing on a black cover. You can also see something at the bottom that will be part of a big "secret announcement" in a few weeks.

If you ordered a copy (or copies) of THE ROOKIE, I'm telling you now you will be very happy with the product. We've seen all of the parts -- the case, the jacket, the text pages and the color 16-page insert -- but not the finished product. The parts all rock the house. If you have not bought a copy (or copies, this ain't gonna suck itself), then click here and get cracking!

NEW FICTION UPDATE:
I am heads-down working on the third draft of the ANCESTOR hardcover re-write. It's kicking my ass. Don't worry, I will get up, dust off said ass, then plant a size 10 square in the beanbag of Baby McButter. Tough going right now working out the new plot twists, but pimpin' ain't easy.

This means no new fiction coming your way this week, but I'll still have a couple of tasty things drop (tomorrow and Friday).

FridayFix: HorrorHouse!

What do vampires, boogeymen, and gypsy witches have in common? Watch and learn about what's behind Messengers 2: The Scarecrow. The FDO™ and Earl Newton of the scifi/horror vidcast Stranger Things team up once again for new episodes of HorrorHouse and The Eyebrow of Doom™. We look at Ghost House Pictures, the studio that produced Boogeyman, 30 Days of Night, and Messengers 2; the suspenseful prequel to the box office hit, The Messengers. Messengers 2 is available July 21st, 2009 on DVD.

Siglerisimo gets spacey learnin'

LaunchPad

Sitting down for my first day of the week-long LaunchPad event in Laramie, Wyoming. This NASA-sponsored event teaches writers how to correctly communicate spacey things. I'm going to be using this for research on THE CRYPT, which is shaping up to be one high-toned bitch of a story. Attendees include a great list of authors and general coolness:

Pat Cadigan
Carolyn Clink
Andy Duncan
Tara Fredette
Owl Goingback
N.K. Jemisin

Julie V. Jones
