How's the DT's, Junkie?

As I told y'all in NOCTURNAL Episode #11, we're on hold for Episode #12. I'm working on the INFECTED audiobooks - what a frickin' project this is. It's 347 pages from the hardcover, all of which will be in the free podcast, plus 30+ pages of new shite that will only be on the pay-for audiobook. Unfortunately, this is a major priority and NOCTURNAL has to wait until it's done. INFECTED podcast begins in March.

ROOKIE HITS #1

This is fun stuff, THE ROOKIE hit #1 at Podiobooks.com's Top 10 list. This used to be an easy thing to do, to hit #1 there, but some podcast authors are really stepping up their game, people like Mur Lafferty and Nathan Lowell.

The chart graphic shows ROOKIE at #1, BLOODCAST at #3 (it's already on it's way down the charts), and a surprise appearance by the Grand Old Man of podcast novels, EARTHCORE at #10.

Lowell, in particular, pisses me off, because the guy clearly has no life and writes even more than I do. In fact, if I have zero life, this dude must have negative life. Maybe he's a demon? A young-adult scifi writing, podcasting demon from hell. If you've got teenagers (or you are a teenager, for that matter) who like scifi, you can't go wrong with this guy's stuff.

BIG PIMPIN' WITH DOCTOROW:

This is a cool thing for me. Cory Doctorow is a hero of mine, a fight-the-power type scifi writer that has paved the way for many of the writers that give their stuff away. He's also a big player at the Electronic Frontiers Foundation (EFF), an organization that you should look into if you want the internet to remain an open creation and not be controlled by the big corporations. Anyway, enough kissing of C-Doc's ass, it was a thrill for me to go to the Amazon.com link to his new book LITTLE BROTHER and find Amazon paired it with INFECTED for a "better together" promo. This is relatively meaningless, all automated, and just means that people buying my books also tend to buy Cory's books -- but still, I took it as a badge of honor and I'm fired up. It's neat to be linked at those levels. Yes, that's right, your Future Dark Overlord™ said "neat."

Junkies vs. Lupus

Junkies vs. Lupus

Okay, Junkies, we don't bang on the charity drum very often (this is the first time), but when Hardcore Junkie Brian Thomas contacted me asking for some fundraising help, it was a no-brainer. Brian is running some ungodly marathon-thingee to raise money for Lupus research. He asked me to sponsor his effort, so the great folks at Shirts By Mail hooked us up with a custom silk-screened Junkies vs. Lupus shirt. Click on the movie link above to see the shirt, and to be tricked into hearing Brian's pitch for support. That's right, we trick you - don't tell me you're surprised. Donate if you like, if you don't just check out the sweet one-off shirt.

Killer book videos!

Junkies, check it out. A book trailer for ANCESTOR, and one for David Wellington's 13 BULLETS. I have to admit, I think David kicked my ass on this one ... but now I know what I need to do for INFESTED trailers to raise the bar even higher. You want a piece o' me, Wellington? Well bring it on! (just please leave that dude from your video at home, he freaks me out). Click on both to take look.

Video interview with Amy Mac

AmyMacI found some video from an interview I did with Amy Mac about six months back, when Podshow launched the new version of their player. It's meaningless, you've all heard my drivel before, so watch it only if you're totally freaking bored and you want to see the Human Cadaver wave his hands around far too much.

Fan Fiction: Death, Taxes & Scott Sigler by P.G. Holyfield.

This was so well-produced I had to throw it in the feed. This has nothing to do with THE ROOKIE, it's just a cool short story. If you've listened to EARTHCORE, ANCESTOR and INFECTION, you'll get all the inside references to this little gem.

I met P.G. Holyfield at Dragon*Con 2006 in Atlanta, GA. Perhaps I was drunk, but I don't remember this happening. However, it's pretty cool to be the bad guy instead of just writing about the bad guys.

This story covers a lot of ground, including me, PG, Patrick McClean, and ... of course ... JC Hutchins.
