IN THIS EPISODE:
Dew Phillips thinks back to the meeting that drew him into the hunt for the infected. The meeting takes place with Murray Stapleton, the Deputy Director of CIA, and a man Dew fought with in Viet Nam. While Dew remains on the hunt for a live victim, the very much alive Perry Dawsey goes to war with his own body -- and the results prove to be disastrous.

NO NOCTURNAL THIS WEEK:
I've mapped out NOCTURNAL through the final episode which will be Episode #30. Getting all the plot threads to properly connect takes a little bit of work, so no episode this week.

Yes, you Dirty Junkies, posting Chapters 20-22 of INFECTED keeps my string going!

Getting reviewed in the San Francisco Chronicle is, in my opinion, a big fucking deal. San Francisco is a HUGE book town. They even have an event called "LitQuake" that brings thousands of people to the streets of the Mission district for a marathon session of author interviews and readings. It's like a Lollapalooza for books.

So when my Google alert (read also: one of my many vanity searches) popped up this morning with a review by the Chron, I was excited and nervous to open it up. Reviewer Michael Berry clearly did not like INFECTED, but he gave it a fair shake and didn't beat it up too bad. The review reads like I'm a first-grader who don't spell so good, but he tries hard so the teacher gives him a silver star (but no smiley face, those are reserved for the smart kids).

IN THIS EPISODE:
Perry's body is changing, faster than he can keep track, and in ways that he can't see. Margaret and Amos identify parasitic structures growing deep in Martin Brewbaker's body -- structures that indicate Perry's current symptoms are a portent to disaster.

Okay Junkies, this has to be given special recognition. People travelled from far and wide to see my book readings for INFECTED. At least twenty people told me they drove 4+ hours, one way, to attend the events in Seattle, L.A., San Francisco, New York and Houston.

But man, 2,482 miles round-trip?

That's how far James "SynapticJam" Keeling flew, travelilng from Minnesota to attend the reading at Houston's Murder by the Book.

That's just preposterous. I'd give this guy a Siglerism Heroic Infected Titan award (that's right, the coveted S.H.I.T. award), but he's already the name of the most bad-ass ship the galaxy has ever seen, the PUV James Keeling, a.k.a. "The Crypt."

SynapticJam, I knew there was something wrong with your head because you're a fan of mine (and that goes without saying), but man, that is one HUGE trip and I thank you.

(and yes, this is why I don't smile for most pictures, because when I do I look like a fucking tool).

UPDATE 4-22-08: Pope Siglericus XXX announced today that Keeling did, indeed, win the coveted S.H.I.T. award. "This acolyte of Siglerism clearly follows Scott Sigler, and since Scott is always #1, that makes Keeling a solid #2. Maybe some chunks of corn in there, sure, but still a solid #2."

Margaret Montoya contines to examine Brewbaker's rapidly decomposing corpse, and finds key clues that could finally shed some light on a disease that drives people to murder.

We got some preliminary numbers in, they are strong, but not as strong as they should be considering the size of Siglerism -- if you like these free podcasts, grab yourself a copy or buy one as a gift.
