Scott's Blog of Fuck Yeah

Take away my Sigler books?

Okay, his parents didn't take away his Sigler books, they took away his World of Warcraft account. However, as an entertainer, I can only WISH this was the response I would get. Yes, Junkie, I am actively trying to turn you in to this kid. This could quite possibly be the best thing I've ever seen ...

Zombie Apocalypse at Balticon

Scott does the Zombie danceScott does the Zombie danceI was a guest at Balticon this year, and I had an absolute blast. One of the fun events was taking part in the "Zombie Apocalypse" panel. Also on the panel was Zombie Girl (who is awesome), Christiana Ellis (who is awesome), and the most awesome Dan Tabor who made sure we had video.

I've linked to the video here. It's a little hard to hear at times, but I was on no sleep, got on a roll and sound pretty frickin' funny. Thought you might want to check it out. Click on the picture at right to watch.

Remember, when the apocolypse hits, you don't have to be fast, just faster than the slowest person in your party ...

PATIENT ZERO by Johnathan Maberry

NOVEL: PATIENT ZERO
AUTHOR: Jonathan Maberry
RATING: Four-point-five out of five Siggies

I know that right now zombies are all the rage (no pun intended), and yet I'm not a very big fan of the genre. Why? Because it seems writing a zombie book or movie plot is only slightly less complicated than taking a nap. You have shambling mounds of undead. Add some "regular people" characters, have the undead chase them about, kill off all the characters one by one until maybe a couple escape said undead, and ... scene. How did the zombies become zombies? Oh come now, don't you fret your pretty little head about such details.

Maberry takes a different approach with PATIENT ZERO. First of all, the characters are about as far from "regular people" as I am from dunking over Dwight Howard. We're talking highly trained, ass-whipping spec ops bad boys that break zombie necks with their bare hands, if need be, or just shot the fuck out of them with the latest and greatest weaponry. Second, he comes up with a pseudo-science explanation for the zombies that is very cool, very fun, and lets you slide much farther into the willing suspension of disbelief.

This book is like Mack Bolan running the X-Files. The main character is Joe Ledger, an ultra-violent good guy with the proverbial heart of gold. I'm sure we'll see more of this character soon (and not just because the cover says "a Joe Ledger novel").

Bottom line: I think Maberry's stuff reads a lot like mine. There is lots and lots of violence. If you like the science-based monsters of INFECTED, NOCTURNAL, ANCESTOR and EARTHCORE, you will dig this book.

F**K YEAH!: New songs from THE TRANSFER

Insomnia Radio

Les Zaldor of Insomnia Radio recently interviewed my favorited band, THE TRANSFER (click on the logo at right to hear the interview, complete with three new songs). Fuck Yeah. You have heard their music all over Sigler podcast novels, including "Down With Everything" that was the theme music for EARTHCORE.

Yes, I used to play bass for these guys. They have a new singer, but the band still has my friends Justin Carls, Ted Krisko, Steve Poirier and Chris Larson (who replaced me after I replaced him -- he's the original bad-ass bassist). I frickin' love these guys.

The new tunes have operatic intensity typical the layered songwriting style of Carls. Like previous songs, THE TRANSFER's new tunes make you alternate between wanting to wave your hands side to side in arena-rock unison and breaking teeth with a rusty tire iron. Jack Miles is an excellent new singer. He replaces Steve Tutor, who is and will always be my favorite lead singer of all time.

F**K Yes! Shatner sings Sinatra

There could not possibly in the history of mankind be a greater moment than this. I am a die-hard Sinatra fan, he is the most meh-tal creation of all time, and yet, Shatner is also so very meh-tal. Put the two together, and it's proof of divine control.

I Should Be Writing Interview

Everyone's favorite podcasting hottie, Mur Lafferty, recently interviewed me for I Should Be Writing. The interview centers on THE ROOKIE as an example of a new model for authors to earn a living at their craft.

F**K NO! Juile Andrews' unholy mind control

Look at this insane, hippy, Satanic happy bullshit. Line dancing? Julie Andrews music? Intentional disuption of a primary transportation link? Wasting of taxpayer money? Illiegal use of music without paying royalties?

You people think I'm crazy to say Julie Andrews is the Anti-Sigler, but just look at this! This encapsulates almost everything that is wrong with her goody two-shoes life, and shows you clearly why she has tried to have me assassinated twice now. Well, you failed, Julie Andrews, you failed

Bring Your Own Big Wheel: "Team Infected"

I've already blabbed about Team Infected's sixth straight national championship at the Bring Your Own Big Wheel race (BYOBW) in San Francisco, but you've got to see this amazing video by Aaron Proctor. How do you make the Walking Cadaver look good? All in the lighting, my friends, it's all in the lighting. Click on the video picture to hit Aaron's site and watch the goods.

TEAM INFECTED: Six-Time BYOBW National Champions
• Scott "General Siglerisimo" Sigler
• Joe "The Decapitator" Carlson
• Annette "Armageddon" Anderson
• "Bodacious" Brittany Burke

Fanboy Hell interview

Fanboy HellThis is the "FanboyHell" interview, and they take it seriously -- some really in-depth questions about NOCTURNAL, INFECTED and much more. These guys are clearly Junkies and it comes through in the questions. Really fun interview.
