J.P. Harvey is a character in the novel Nocturnal by author Scott Sigler. The character is initially introduced in episode twenty six of the audio version of Nocturnal.

J.P. Harvey appears late in the story along with fellow SFPD officer Matt Hickman. Harvey and Hickman take over Officer Jason Green’s post at San Francisco General Hospital. Green was standing watch over, and providing protection for the hospitalized Jebidiah Erickson, also known as the Savior.

The character is only known by his initials and last name and has no known nicknames.

The character of JP Harvey is named for the devoted junkie by the same name whose avatar is pictured at the left. This dedicated junkie can be found as an active member on the official Scott Sigler website forums under the user name of JP.

In the real world, JP is not a police officer. Rumors abound about his actual employment, including English professor, entomologist, firefighter, "International Man of Mystery" (fueled by the fact he's visited every continent on the globe except for Antarctica), and part-time pastry chef, however confirmation remains elusive.

JP also has the rare privilege of having his name used for a character in the novel Ancestor. In that novel, his character is named James Harvey.
