Stores can't handle the Starter
At least not yet, Jeremy J. It's a very limited run, and it's only available here. And you really want to buy this book. I love the Rookie, both the cursing podcast version and the school friendly print version, and I'm very excited to see what happens with the Krakens in their next season.

YA friendly? Really? One of the things I always like best about the FDO was his bloody vicious descriptions and no-holds-barred attitude. Is that going to continue or did we lose our overlord to commercialization?

I'm normally not one to order books online, so I'll look for it in the stores.

You're talking about a book that is a limited edition run that is only available by direct purchase from the author. So if your local store has it, it is only because they came to this site and ordered it. While I'm pretty sure Scott won't mind, I don't see the stores doing that as it would pretty much eliminate their profit on the books.
Yes, Scott has other books in stores, but those are published and distributed through a publisher, where the stores get a discounted price.

I ordered both the Rookie and the Starter (the double pack from above). Do they ship out individually (IE the Rookie first and then the Starter when it's available) or is my copy of the Rookie on hold until the Starter shipps?

Here's the thing:
Since we used the shopping cart function, I have to look at each individual order to determine what was in the cart, as PayPal does not let me choose specific items to download in the sales reports. It's a little tedious on the back-end, but made for a much easier experience on the buyer's end.
So I'm working through them. I can't just tell you number of transactions or number of books, as both of those would be inaccurate, and that's not what you're after, and we don't need false data out there. Hang tight, I'm doing the best I can.
What I can tell you is that we outsold last year's first 24 hours, which had 646 books sold. We did better than that by a healthy margin. The FDO™ is happy with the first day, I'm really pleased we recovered well from the initial glitches, and folks seem happy so far.
It will take a little while to get the data sorted. We'll share soon. Hang in there.

Wow!
That is a hell of a lot of people. I must say, I was on Twitter and was watching may comments about the site outages. That was a great example of what I love about this community. Nobody was pissed off. We were all having heart attacks, but everyone had a sense of humor and took it in stride. That is what makes junkies so cool. As long as the site was down, nobody could scoop up the low numbers and so we all just chatted ourcway through it and waited for the site to come up. In a weird way, it was fun.

I was busy working yesterday and forgot about the damn book. Same thing happened last time and got a ~700 number. Hey Scott I ordered at ~9:10 AM EST, what kind of number am I looking at this time? Since you addressed it for everyone else except me in the FAQ, podcast, and website, I would like to request the same ~700 number I got for the Rookie. I would like the same exact number actually.
